Join Capitol Land Trust & Puget Sound Estuarium in our second year of our Bayshore Preserve Salmon Docent volunteer program! Training provided to introduce you Bayshore Preserve and the work CLT and our partners have done to restore salmon habitat, chum salmon biology, interpretation tips and tricks, and program logistics. In addition to this training, we will share online materials and host an optional Bayshore Preserve orientation on Saturday, October 29 at 10:00 am.
Volunteer docents will be stationed at different areas along Johns Creek where the public (including local students and their families) can view the chum salmon and provide interpretation about the preserve and the salmon and help operate underwater cameras. After attending the training, volunteers can sign up for a half day (2 hours) or a full day (4 hours).
The goals of our Salmon Docent program are to 1) invite our community to visit Bayshore Preserve, 2) share what Capitol Land Trust and our partners have done to improve salmon habitat at the preserve, and 3) explain basic salmon information and behavior.
You can view the salmon docent volunteer position description here.
We are also looking for volunteer translators. Please email mary@capitollandtrust.org if you are interested in being a translator or with general questions.
