Grab a friend and join Capitol Land Trust and Black Hills Audubon Society on a bird outing to Bayshore Preserve, a former golf course-turned nature preserve!
We will explore about 1.5 miles of trail that meander along a stream, through old oak trees, and the marine shoreline of Puget Sound.
This is a free, beginner and family-friendly event. No parking pass is needed.

Bayshore Preserve, Shelton
Trail information: The trail system is about 1.5 miles total. The Main Loop Trail is mostly flat and a mixture of dirt and gravel. The birding route will travel along trails with short inclines/declines. A portion of the trail could be soggy/muddy. There is a portable toilet available for use. The trails are not wheelchair accessible. Learn more about the trails.
Please wear weather appropriate clothing for a slow pace, sturdy, closed-toed shoes.
Bring water and a snack your favorite birding tools (binoculars, scopes, camera, field guide, etc.). Merlin Bird ID is a great phone app for identifying birds in the field. A limited number of binoculars will be available to borrow.
Participants must fill out an annual Waiver (2025) before participating. Minors under 16 must be accompanied by an adult and have both pages of the Minor Waiver Release (2025) Form filled out. Minors 16 and older may attend the event without a parent or guardian with the Minor Waiver filled out ahead of time.
You may print and fill out your waiver ahead of time and bring it to the event. Or email it to [email protected]. Waivers will also be available to sign at the event.
