May 7
In this weekend event, will be going to Darlin Creek Preserve and removing Scot’s broom from the wetland loop trail. This work is made fun and easy by good tools and good company (I wouldn’t work on a Saturday if it wasn’t at least a good time). We are close to finishing a major section of broom pulling!
Come enjoy a spring morning on our 312-acre public-access preserve with trails, bridges, and beaver dams. And, help restore Darlin Creek Preserve to diverse, native habitat. If you choose, you are also welcome to join us in imaginative realm of the first “Broom Banishers” trilogy, seen just below.
Broom Banishers III: The Return of the Weed Wrench
Negotiations between the Scot’s broom empire and the Capitol Alliance have ceased. Tensions rose to a breaking point as the broom empire unveiled a threat of expansion into neutral lands. Their new weapon, yellow flowers, began to appear on planet Darlin Creek Preserve, ending any chance of a diplomatic resolution.
However, unbeknownst to the enemy, the volunteers had predicted the empire’s movements and amassed their own fleet of new, upgraded weed wrenches. After recovering from their snow defeat in episode II, the volunteer team made plans to advance upon the position of the broom army with their new broom-banishing gear. In this storyline filled with treachery and pitched battle, only one side will emerge victorious. Will it be the broom empire, or the volunteers?
Find out in episode III: Return of the Weed Wrench.
