Join Capitol Land Trust and local entomologist Arlo Pelgrin for a bug outing to Inspiring Kids Preserve! We will get to know the world beneath our feet and learn all about the insects and spiders which call this preserve home. Everyone will have a chance to practice their observational skills, get to see bugs and spiders up-close while using hand lens and collection jars. All items will be provided but if you have your own bug books or magnifying tools, feel free to bring them along. This is a family-friendly event, and no prior experience is needed.
This event will have two sessions, one in July and another in August, please only register for one session.

Inspiring Kids Preserve is a 113-acre nature preserve conserved by Capitol Land Trust on the eastern shore of Henderson Inlet. Although not yet open to the public, this preserve protects a wide variety of habitat like Puget Sound shoreline, saltmarsh, freshwater wetlands, and mixed forest. It is also the site of outdoor education initiatives and environmental restoration projects.
Trail information: The trails are a mixture between dirt, grass, and gravel and are uneven in spots. We will walk about a mile. There is a portable toilet available for use in the parking area. The trails are not wheelchair accessible.
Please wear weather appropriate clothing for a slow pace, sturdy, closed-toed shoes and bring water and a snack. Bring sunscreen and layers. Bring a lunch if you would like to stay and have lunch at the preserve.
