What better way to spend a Friday than by volunteering with Capitol Land Trust at Kaiser Preserve? This property is 19.5 acres and part of the Green Cove Creek Basin in Olympia. We will spend the morning taking down some blackberries that are growing around the preserve. A lot of work has been done here, and trees saplings that were planted by volunteers years ago now tower overhead! We had a big stewardship party in February and are excited to see how things have changed with spring.
Kaiser Preserve is a short distance from the Evergreen campus on Kaiser Rd, and is accessible by walk, bike, bus + walk, or car (we love public and non-motorized transport)!
Expect to see a diversity of bird species, including the possibility of bald eagles and herons. Please bring waterproof shoes, or at least something water-resistant. A decent amount of the preserve consists of wetlands and lowland grasses that will likely be wet.
