Join us for a breath of fresh air at Lonseth Preserve! This 60-acre property was previously operated as a sustainable timber harvest operation and sits between Budd and Henderson Inlet. Since Capitol Land Trust purchased the property in 2011, we have been working to achieve old growth characteristics by salvaging, replanting and thinning the forest. Thinning promotes faster and larger tree growth by opening up the canopy!
Before we can thin out more trees, we need to carve access paths so that later work parties can get to the trees. Stay tuned in late February and early March for follow-up events using chainsaws (assisted by non-chainsaw wielding volunteers) to thin the trees.

Due to the unpaved access road, all volunteers will need to meet at a nearby location and ride together in the CLT truck.
Tools, gloves, and light snacks will be provided. Please dress prepared for the weather, as we work rain or shine. Sturdy shoes are recommended. Minors must be accompanied by an adult or have a waiver filled out ahead of time.
