July 21
Lower Eld is a 58-acre preserve of wetlands and forest adjacent to the southern tip of Eld Inlet. McLane Creek, famous for its hearty salmon runs, flows through the property and into Puget Sound. Last time we were here, we cleared an area of Scot’s broom and watched the tide come in over the mudflats. We occasionally see an elk herd on this preserve, though we did not last time.
This event will focus on removing European hawthorn, holly, and Scot’s broom. The preserve is in good shape and we will be exploring to remove some scattered invasive plants. Join us for a day of exploration and fun.
