Volunteer support is vital to Capitol Land Trust. To show our appreciation, we hosted a volunteer appreciation event on Friday, October 8 at Priest Point Park.
Wow, what a pleasure it was to see all of the smiling faces! The rain even stopped for us. After a sandwich lunch, catered by City Picnics, we headed down the new trail built by volunteer park stewards and Priest Point Park staff.
Once we got to the beach, CLT’s Conservation Director Laurence Reeves gave a very intriguing talk about a nearshore restoration project done in partner by the City of Olympia and South Puget Sound Salmon Enhancement group on the north shore of Priest Point Park. We learned all about pocket estuaries and their important role in the salmon life cycle. We were even lucky enough to watch salmon jumping in Puget Sound right in front of us!
Thank you to those of you who came out and spent time with us! If you weren’t able to make it to this event, we will be hosting another volunteer appreciation next spring. We can’t wait to see you there!
