March 28
If you signed up for the event at Springer Lake on Saturday, prepare for a wetland double feature. Tilley Wetlands East is a 123-acre piece of a large, contiguous area of conserved wetlands that are very important for animals such as beaver, elk, and porcupine.
Near Millersylvania State Park and Tenino, this preserve will be a beautiful place to experience the beginning of spring. Join us to help maintain footpaths for monitoring access by cutting encroaching plants. We will also be checking on our beaver analogue, which is a man-made structure that mimics a beaver dam. This is not a public preserve, so this event is a great time to experience this place.
If the weather is good it’s also possible to bike to the preserve, either on the road or on a longer route via the Chehalis Western and Yelm to Tenino Trails. If you are considering biking, email [email protected] for route planning. I may be able to join you on the bike ride!
