Barb Morson is a person of long-standing commitment to the environment and the outdoor world we live in. She has an infectious energy, now directed to working with Capitol Land Trust.
In her professional life, after earning a Wildlife Management degree at University of Maine, she has spent her career in engineering consulting, working to investigate and clean up contaminated sites. Along the way, she has also done volunteer work in environmental education and especially loves watching kids discover hidden treasures in the outdoors. She is interested in environmental education initiatives in schools and has taught about environmental issues in various settings over the years.
Barb and her husband, following a job opportunity, moved to Olympia in 1988, and their son was born here in 1989. She found the south Puget Sound landscape a place of beauty and ideal for her love of being outdoors. She also found Capitol Land Trust (CLT). She’s been volunteering off and on for the organization for 12 years.
In July, 2015 Barb was welcomed as a member of CLT’s Board of Directors. She brings to the Board her positive energy, and commitment to CLT’s long term conservation vision and stewardship needs. She carries a vision for working together with local partners toward a hundred year vision of southwestern Washington.
Barb is “humbled” by the quality, the beliefs and the values expressed through CLT‘s Board, volunteers and members. Speaking of her recent Board membership she says “This opportunity for me is a big learning commitment. I believe in taking the long view of conservation, looking as far into the future as possible; I see CLT as a key organization in making that happen.” She certainly has the energy to be a part of carrying out an exciting future.
