Join Capitol Land Trust on a bird outing to Twin Rivers Ranch Preserve! This 133-acre preserve sits at the head of Oakland Bay just north of Shelton. Capitol Land Trust permanently conserved this property in 2010. It protects a wide variety of habitat like Puget Sound shoreline, two estuaries, the lower portions of Cranberry and Deer creeks, freshwater wetlands, grassland, and mixed forest.
First time birders are just as welcome as experienced birders! Bird enthusiasts Mike, Sam, and Mary will help guide us on the species we may hear and see as we explore. We will travel along a two mile portion of the trail and you are welcome to stay for as little or long as you’d like. Please carpool if you are comfortable and able to do so.

Trail information: There are no official trails here and the area is relatively flat. The areas we will travel over are a mixture between dirt, grass, and gravel and are uneven in spots. Portions of the trail could be a little soggy/muddy. Much of the area we will explore will be exposed to the elements. There is no restroom at this location except at the gas station across the street.
Please wear weather appropriate clothing for a slow pace, sturdy, closed-toed shoes, and bring water, snack, sun protection, etc. Bring your favorite birding tools (binoculars, scopes, camera, field guide, etc.) We will have extra binoculars available. Merlin Bird ID is a great phone app for identifying birds in the field.
