Join local geologist Wendy Gerstel for a geologic journey through Darlin Creek Preserve. Wendy has been working as a geologist for over 40 years. For the past 30 years, Wendy has worked on mapping and mitigating landslide and erosion hazards around Puget Sound and other parts of western Washington. Much of her work today is in collaboration with local jurisdictions and landowners to address shoreline slope instability. The shared goal is to improve habitats without threatening human life and property.
During this virtual event, we will explore the glacial history of Darlin Creek Preserve within the broader setting of Puget Sound glaciation. The Preserve holds several exceptional landform features formed by multiple glacial advances and retreats. These landforms create and sustain the habitat that supports the critters and vegetation found in the preserve. This will be followed by time for questions.
The Zoom format will be set up so that when you join the meeting your audio and video will be turned off. During the Q&A portion, you will have the option to turn on your video if you feel comfortable doing so. You will be able to type questions into the Zoom platform.
