April 22, Earth Day!
This freeform holiday is one of our favorites. Some people choose to celebrate by turning off the lights, biking to work, or taking time to learn about environmental issues. We want to pay our respects for the planet by celebrating Earth Day with a stewardship party. Join us at Bayshore Preserve via the Oakland Bay Recreational Area entrance for a day of environmental restoration and fun!
In this event, you and your friends can care for the environment by helping us removing invasive plant species. We will be removing Scot’s broom from Oakland Bay Recreational Area, a WA Department of Fish and Wildlife property adjacent to our beautiful Bayshore Preserve.
This event is family-friendly, and there is no expectation that you need to work in order to be there. We hope that you will come ready to learn, meet your fellow community members, and appreciate these natural areas. The event and orientation starts at 10:00am, but feel free to come and go as you are available (event ends at 2:00pm, but you can still explore afterwards).
Capitol Land Trust will provide tools, gloves, and some snacks and drinks. Bring your own lunch and water. Parking at the WDFW property is FREE on Earth Day, and there will be a portable toilet on site.
