Author Mary Boone’s children’s book, School of Fish, is the latest book to be adapted as a StoryTrail at Bayshore Preserve. In partnership with the Shelton Timberland Library, the School of Fish StoryTrail is now available for kids and families at Bayshore Preserve through December 2024.
StoryTrails are fun and engaging ways to combine a love of nature and reading. The book is bilingual in English and Spanish.
Pages from School of Fish have been placed onto large signs and are spaced out along the Johns Creek Trail (click here for the trail map). Join with Emmy and her classmates as they raise salmon in the classroom and release them into the wild. School of Fish is designed for children preschool through third grade, but all can enjoy the experience.
The journey along Johns Creek also offers real-life salmon viewing through about mid-November. Download and print the salmon activity before heading out. A limited number of copies are available at the kiosk.
Download the salmon activity sheet here: English/ Spanish (Don’t forget a pencil, a clipboard and polarized sunglasses for better salmon viewing!)
