We are actively monitoring the weather for safety and are still planning to host this event. We will reach out if the event is canceled.

Put your passion into action!
Join Capitol Land Trust (CLT) on this annual day of service to honor the life and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr.—and help improve important wildlife habitat. This project will take place at our gorgeous 108-acre Inspiring Kids Preserve on Henderson Inlet. Together we’ll remove invasive plants like scotch broom and English ivy from areas where they are threatening vulnerable native plants. By helping these native plants thrive, you will be directly contributing to the health of our local environment.
The project will involve using hand tools, walking on uneven ground both on and off trail, and through knee-high grass. Distance walked will be up to one mile. A portable toilet will be available in the parking area. Snacks and warm drinks will be provided. There will be time to enjoy the scenery and trails. Space is limited.

Inspiring Kids Preserve, Olympia
Inspiring Kids Preserve is envisioned as a place where people of all ages can learn about the importance of healthy natural ecosystems and how, as individuals, they can directly affect positive change for the planet. This project represents an opportunity for you to get involved early in its development. Check out the Inspiring Kids Preserve webpage for more information about its history and future.
Volunteers must fill out an annual Volunteer Waiver (2024) before volunteering with CLT. Minors under 16 must be accompanied by an adult and have both pages of the Minor Waiver Release (2024) Form filled out. Minors 16 and older may attend the event without a parent or guardian with the Minor Waiver filled out ahead of time. You may print and fill out your waiver ahead of time and bring it to the event. Or, email it to Sarah [email protected]. Blank waivers will also be available to sign at the event.
Following registration, you will receive a confirmation email. A few days prior to the event you will receive an “event details” email that will give you detailed driving instructions, a weather forecast, and a list of things you may need to bring to the service project.
Questions? Email Sarah Croston at [email protected].
We are really looking forward to seeing you there.
