Did you know that an astounding number of Americans—nearly 70%—don’t have a will? This month we celebrate Make-A-Will Month. It’s a great opportunity to change this statistic and leave a legacy for your family and community.
A will is a powerful tool that directs how your personal assets are distributed among your family and the causes you are passionate about. No matter the size of your estate, having a will can provide peace of mind knowing that the people and philanthropic interests you care about most will be taken care of.
When you include Capitol Land Trust in your will, you protect the lands and waters that make our region a wonderful place to live—for people and wildlife alike—for generations to come.
Include a Gift to Capitol Land Trust in Your Will
After providing for your loved ones, leaving a portion of your assets to Capitol Land Trust (CLT) is an easy and effective way to positively impact an issue—conservation—that you care deeply about.
It won’t cost anything now and can even reduce estate taxes!
CLT exists because of the passion and generosity of community members who value conservation. A will is one of the best ways to build a positive conservation legacy. Including CLT in your will provides us with the necessary resources and staff today to permanently protect our region’s natural areas and working lands into the future.
To date, our generous members have helped us permanently conserve over 6,600 acres and 19 miles of Puget Sound Shoreline. You can help ensure this great work continues beyond your lifetime.
There are a variety of ways to give through your will. CLT accepts assets like cash, securities, stocks, bonds, real estate*, or other assets, either as a designated dollar amount or as a percentage of your estate. Even a 1% designation can make a big impact.
Leave 10 South Sound
CLT is a proud member of Leave 10 South Sound, a movement to educate, encourage and inspire people to leave at least 10% of their estate to non-profit organizations. If everyone in the South Sound left 10%, area non-profits would receive billions of dollars across the next ten years alone. Imagine all the good work that could result!
