Happy October Everyone! This is Mary, Outreach & Education Coordinator at Capitol Land Trust! It’s been awhile since I have seen many of our volunteers and some of you, I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting yet. I hope everyone has found joy in the little things and taken the time you need to feel refreshed and happy in life.
I am excited to share that Justine Mischka has returned for her second AmeriCorps term with Capitol Land Trust as our Restoration Coordinator. Justine came to us in 2019 from Wisconsin after completing her Bachelor of Science in Community and Nonprofit Leadership with an emphasis in Environmental Studies. She is passionate about getting her community outside learning and having fun.
Her role with CLT will be to engage the community in environmental stewardship and restoration projects October – August 2021. On the land projects will focus on improving the quality of habitat and public access on select CLT preserves as well as building communal knowledge and feeling of connection with the outdoors. (Our first priority is your health and safety. As of December 2020, CLT is not hosting in-person stewardship work parties).
CLT plans to resume outdoor stewardship work parties this October. We will take extra precautions in consideration of COVID-19, such as restricting group size, social distancing, and requiring masks. Stewardship volunteer events will be posted on our Events Page and Facebook. Stay in touch about outdoor stewardship volunteer opportunities, sign up for our new Stewardship Newsletter!
Interested in bringing your group or class out for a stewardship work party? Groups can now fill out a Group Stewardship Work Party Request Form to get out on the land together! Learn more here.
Thank you all for your continued support of Capitol Land Trust. We can’t wait to share laughs on the land once again!
With gratitude,
Mary Birchem
